SIA scraps 'flight to nowhere' plan, launches limited plane dining service, tours and home food delivery
SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) has scrapped its plan for a"flight to nowhere" post-obit a review of factors including environmental implications and financial viability.
Instead, for a limited time, SIA will offer a dining experience on board an A380, conduct tours of its grooming facilities and provide a home delivery service featuring its first class and business concern grade meals.
The announcement, made by the airline in a press release on Tuesday (Sep 29), comes among unprecedented challenges for Singapore'south national carrier later COVID-19 crippled travel need worldwide.

SIA Group reported the first annual net loss in its 48-twelvemonth history in May and has said it will cutting about 4,300 positions, affecting around 2,400 staff. Industry watchers expect more job losses to come.
On Tuesday, the airline said the 3 new initiatives were the result of a market study and "comprehensive review, which likewise considered factors such as the attractiveness of the initiatives to SIA's customers and members of the public, the environmental implications, and their financial viability".

"With COVID-19 drastically reducing the number of flights operated past the SIA Group, we have created unique activities that would let us to engage with our fans and customers during this fourth dimension," Mr Goh said.
The suite of services, dubbed Discover Your Singapore Airlines, will be available for booking on SIA's website from selected dates.
